Austin Strip Clubs: WALTER CRONKITE

Filed under: Austin strip clubs — angel at 11:11 am on Saturday, July 18, 2009

Viewers credulously embraced him — two polls, one of them 15 years after he left the air, named him the most trusted man in America — and a generation of TV reporters were awed by him. Fox News anchor Chris Wallace, who has dodged Iraqi missiles in Tel Aviv and shouted at presidents in Washington during his nearly four decades in TV news, said nothing has ever compared to the thrill of the first time Cronkite introduced one of his stories on the CBS Evening News.
”I was watching at the CBS affiliate Chicago,” remembered Wallace. ‘And when Cronkite said, `and Chris Wallace in Springfield, Illinois,’ there was a big cheer from the newsroom. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven.”
Born in Missouri, raised in Houston, Cronkite became fascinated with journalism in high school and dropped out of the University of Texas to pursue his career. For several years he bounced between newspaper, radio and wire-service jobs throughout the Midwest, not always with momentous results. One of his most memorable interviews, he later said, was with Hinda Wassau, the burlesque star who invented the stripper pole.

WATCH: 3 sought after home invasion, robbery
05:32 PM CDT on Thursday, July 16, 2009
By JIM BERGAMO / KVUE News
One man is in custody and three others remain on the loose after an early morning home invasion and aggravated robbery in North Austin.
There were nine people — men and women — inside the house when the home invasion and aggravated robbery took place.
All were injured, but police say none of the injuries, including the worst — a gunshot wound to the hand — is considered to be life threatening. So far the only connection between the armed robbers and the victims is a gentlemen’s club.
Before sunrise, police helicopters were flying over the Highland neighborhood.
“When I first got up and looked outside, I mean it was… the lights from the helicopter were so close that it looked like it was almost daylight,” said Harvey Schlomach, North Austin resident.

Austin Adult Entertainment: Bitte awesome, awesome bitte: Dirty Projectors

4. The subject of whether or not Rx Bandits were ever a ska band is one for the ages (or the comment sections), but the fact remains that its recent loss of personnel has left it hornless and more able to explore the undercurrents of prog and world music within the band’s sound. They appear at Emo’s with fellow voyagers of the odd-time-signature seas Dredg.
5. The appeal of Now, Now Every Children (playing Emo’s Jr.) is much simpler: youthful yearning combined with the anthemic heights that that kind of yearning often lends itself to.
6. Music-hungry pervs will doubtlessly be disappointed to discover that Swedish Wildcats is not a film that features Robyn, Lykke Li, or the female half of ABBA in compromising positions, but it does feature some of their fellow countrywomen putting on elaborate stage shows in a brothel. To paraphrase Li: If you want to complain, Weird Wednesday is not the complaint department.

Austin Strip Clubs: Symposium’s straight talk puts scare into NFL rookies

Filed under: Austin strip clubs — angel at 7:36 am on Saturday, July 11, 2009

That’s part of the reason why the rookie symposium is one of the best things the league does. Invariably, there’s bound to be a couple of dumbbells who will go crazy when presented with two things that separate professional athletes from us regular folks – an unlimited supply of cash and free time.
With that said, we know for every Pacman Jones or Chris Henry who gets arrested, there are a hundred Brian Orakpos and Jason Smiths who won’t see the backseat of a police cruiser. This weekend, Orakpo and Smith – the St. Louis Rams’ rookie offensive tackle from Baylor – will join Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin at Akins (Austin) High School, where Griffin, a former Longhorn, will hold his second annual Orange and White Football Camp.
Smith, the second overall pick behind Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford, said he didn’t get as much out of Carter’s speech, and that’s understandable because he’s not about to go out and shoot up a strip club any time soon.

Austin Massage Parlors: Why the July 4th Tax Day Tea Parties are full of hot July air.

Obviously the far right has not learned their lesson – that they are not going to lie their way into political power. Just about every word in the above paragraph is an out and out lie and perhaps they think they can appeal to some people who don’t know the difference but not enough to win an election.
I was totally opposed to the GM bailout and said so back in November and was opposed to the AIG bailout as well but using words like ”seizing control of key banks insurance companies, the automobile industry etc” sounds like the kind of dumb pamphlet printed on cheap paper with the ink smudging, that used get handed out on the streets of New York in the 1960’s by a guy handing out flyers for massage parlors at the same time.

Man and woman use fake bills at strip club

AUSTIN (KXAN) – A man and woman were arrested for trying to pass fake $100 bills at a strip club in Southeast Austin.
Police arrested Johnny Nocho Rodgers, 47, and Tammy Lynn Owens, 40, after a bartender at The Landing Strip Gentlemen’s club on Bastrop Highway noticed the duo had at least two fake bills between the two of them.
The bartender first noticed the fake bills after Rodgers tried to break one of the bills for smaller ones.

Police were called to the strip club, and both Rodgers and Owens were detained. Investigators are working to determine exactly how many of the seven $100 bills that were found on the pair are actually fake.
