Austin Adult Entertainment: Corporate backers abandon Tiger Woods
Gillette will remove Woods from TV and print advertising, from public appearances and other media linking the two entities together, Gillette spokesman Damon Jones said.
Nike, his biggest financial backer with a deal estimated at $US40 million ($A43.63 million), has so far stood firm, the sports merchandise giant saying it looked forward to his return to golf and wishing him and his family well.
The golfer, 33, admitted on his website on Friday night that he had been unfaithful to his wife, Elin Nordegren. ”I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness,” he said. ”It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.”
Woods has been linked with up to 13 women, including cocktail waitresses, former porn actresses and prostitutes.
