UPDATED: Removed reference by Austin police officials to this incident being counted among the city’s homicides.
Maurice McKnight, 42, has been charged with manslaughter, accused of punching a man during a fist fight at an Austin night club, police officials announced today.
The man, 37-year-old Kelvin Monroe, died days later.
Austin police investigators said Monroe got into an argument with McKnight inside the LaBare, a male strip club, located in the 6400 block of North Interstate 35, on June 12. Soon after, officials said, McKnight, a dancer at the night club, hit Monroe with his fist.
Officers were called to the club about 4 a.m. Monroe was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge where he died Friday, officials said. The Travis County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an autopsy and ruled the death a homicide.

Jose Alejandro Romero: Austin Teen Tries To Rob Gas Station With Caulk Gun, Fails
Oh Austin. Must your efforts to keep weird extend even to armed robberies?
Apparently so. Last week, A-Town cops issued a warrant for Jose Alejandro Romero, a 17-year-old man who stands accused of injuring a gas station attendant while attempting to rob him with a caulk gun. And just for that little added twist of weirdness, police records say that the alleged assailant fled the scene with a male prostitute he’d been partying with for much of what sounds like a long and wild night.
According to an affidavit issued by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office, 68-year-old Johnnie Limuel, a clerk at the Speedy Stop on East 51st Street, told police that a man in drag — later identified as Kenneth Williams, a transient — had come in at 4 a.m. on June 7 and purchased a pack of smokes and $5 worth of gas.

TX Teen Tried Holdup With Caulk Gun

AUSTIN, Texas – Austin police are looking for a 17-year-old boy who allegedly tried to rob a gas station using a caulk gun as a weapon.
An arrest warrant affidavit says Jose Alejandro Romero pointed the sealant tool at the clerk before dawn Friday morning and demanded cash.
According to the Austin American Statesman, the clerk first thought Romero was joking.
But when he refused to open the drawer, Romero beat the clerk with the caulk gun, then attacked him with a plastic garbage can and fled the store without any money.
Surveillance video shows Romero leaving the store with a man dressed in women’s clothing, later identified as a transgender prostitute named Kenneth Williams.

Sandra says Melinda’s rights were relinquished to Austin along with his biological father’s rights. She says Austin’s father is Pele Watkins, an ex-con. She says she knows that because Watkins took a paternity test and they’ve known the results since 2002 that show Watkins is the father. She says she also has the paperwork to prove it.
Sandra says of her daughter, “She’ll do whatever it takes for her to get what she wants.”
Sandra wants Tiger to fight back and to stand up for himself against the allegations. “If he doesn’t it’s not going to stop with her it’s going to continue with other girls and she’s going to do it to other men. That’s all this is. She’s trying to make some money.”
Melinda Brinling has been in trouble with the law in the past. Last December she was arrested on charges of prostitution.

County questions new strip club permit
Sheriff’s Office might have made a mistake

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The Travis County Sheriff’s Office is trying to decide if Rockstar’s Cabaret can keep its operating license.
We are told another strip club nearby, not keen on the competition, sued the Sheriff for issuing it in the first place, citing the club sits lets than 1,000 feet from an apartment complex.
The property line of the Chardonnay Apartments on Wells Branch Parkway backs up to Owen-Tech Blvd. which runs behind the club. Walking trails wind along the greenbelt in between the two properties.
“There are too many children in this area,” said a concerned father who asked to remain nameless. “Most play at night and these parks are too close to that area.”

MOTORCYCLE mogul Jesse James will be moving to Austin, Texas permanently, his lawyer has told People Magazine.
However he wouldn’t comment on whether James was moving to Austin to be near his soon-to-be ex-wife, Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock, who owns a home in Austin.
“He intends to move at the end of the month, he’s got a need to be there,” James’s lawyer John Schilling said.
The Monster Garage host owns a custom car business called Austin Speed Shop in Austin.
James and Bullock put the California home they shared as a couple up for sale after Bullock announced on April 28 that the two were divorcing in the wake of a string of lurid revelations linking James to a stripper.
Bullock also revealed she had secretly adopted a three-month-old baby boy in New Orleans prior to her split with James and was now planning to raise the child as a single mother.

Claim Sandra Bullock divorce is on hold does not hold up

“Despite the public humiliation she suffered after her husband cheated with tattooed strippers and biker groupies, America’s sweetheart Sandra Bullock has put her $250 million divorce from Jesse James on hold – and she’s thinking about taking him back,” begins an article in the National Enquirer.
The supermarket tabloid then quotes a so-called “friend” of Bullock’s as saying, “For now, she’s stalling on the divorce… I think she has forgiven Jesse and she is missing the life they built together, particularly now that she has [adopted son] Louis.”
Adds the “friend,” Bullock “can’t stop thinking about a future when all of them could be one big happy family again. Sandra has put the divorce on hold for the time being.”
