Austin Strip Clubs: Pflugerville gives preliminary approval to controversial downtown business

Filed under: Austin strip clubs — angel at 2:36 am on Wednesday, January 26, 2011

PFLUGERVILLE — Pflugerville citizens lined up at the City Council meeting Jan. 25 to debate the merits of a specific use permit that would allow a tattoo studio to take up residence near the heart of downtown.
The council approved the first reading of the special use permit, with only Councilman Darelle White voting against it. A second reading is required for full approval.
Of the residents in attendance, opinions were split on the effect a tattoo studio would have on the downtown area.
A number of residents felt the tattoo parlor—owned by Pflugerville resident Ryan Dodson and planned for 101 E. Pflugerville—would only add to the “adult” nature of downtown alongside a number of bars already established in the area.
“It’s not a family oriented business in downtown Pflugerville,” Mara Kauff said. “What’s next? [A] strip club? Adult-oriented lingerie?”

Austin Strip Clubs: “Whose Improv” provides students with laughs

Due to a last-minute cancellation, Joel Stockton replaced Jeremy Weyer in the lineup.  The other contestants were Allie Wheaton, Marlon Burnley, and Victor Kamwendo.  Alicia Cox, Executive Producer at Titan Productions, was the host.
The first performance was called “Questions Only” where the contestants were only allowed to converse in questions.  If a contestant failed to answer in a question form or couldn’t come up with a question, the next contestant stepped up. Among the funniest comments were “do you want to make out?”
A skit called “Party Works” had Joel guessing the characters that the other contestants where acting as during a party.  The contestants were “an athlete on steroids,” a “leprechaun trying to find a pot of gold,” and a “retired stripper.”  Joel got 2 of the 3 right after endless clues and nagging.

Austin Adult Entertainment: Friday Night: George Strait & Reba At Austin’s Erwin Center

But McEntire now completely and utterly owns Clarkson’s song, which covers much of the same territory as McEntire’s recorded output. A detour with her former Reba co-star and country comedian Melissa Peterman easily killed ten minutes, and only yielded “I’m A Survivor” in return. We empathized more with the song more than ever for surviving the sketch and not going to grab another beer.
A fun fact about Peterman: She’s one of the hookers who hooks up with Carl and Gaear after they get pancakes in Fargo.
“Fancy” was her sole encore, Reba’s Bobbie Gentry-penned 1991 single heralded by the opening from the music video playing on the big screens as McEntire came out in a taxicab and man-killing red cocktail dress. For a song about a teen girl getting forced into prostitution, a lot of us guys were singing our hearts out.

Austin Strip Clubs: Forget Gaycities — tell everyone what’s great about Big D with the Readers …

The web site GayCities.com released its list of the best about dozens of cities worldwide, from bars to sex clubs to restaurants to fundraisers. And just how well did Texas do? Not great, actually.
Sure, we have several of the top hotels (a W, two Kimptons, a few Hyatts) and Resource Center Dallas came in fourth overall for best LGBT center (preceded only by those in San Francisco, New York and Toronto), but otherwise, the Lone Star State was practically overlooked: Splash Weekend in Austin came in sixth for an event to cross the country for, and Austin’s Kiss & Fly landed on the best strippers, but otherwise we were pretty much shut out. (Neighboring New Orleans’ Southern Decadence landed on best events list, too.)

Austin Strip Clubs: Is ‘Toddlers & Tiaras’ Too Much? 2-Year-Old Dances in Cone Bra

Filed under: Austin strip clubs — angel at 11:00 pm on Sunday, January 9, 2011

Even more disturbing was the Toddlers & Tiaras audience reaction to Mia as she sashayed her way around the stage in gold bra, skirt, and black lace stockings.   Unbelievably enough “…the crowd–including Mia’s mother–cheered her on…” In fact, Mrs. Grande yelled encouragingly: “Yeah, Mia, work it.”Yeah, work it.
Child beauty pageants like Toddlers & Tiaras are, at best, swords with two edges. On one hand, they can help kids learn about competition and the discipline necessary for careers in the performing arts. Unfortunately, they are also lightning rods for pedophiles.
Little girls in ruffled frocks singing and dancing like Shirley Temple are cute and amusing. Sexualized tots prancing like strippers to Madonna songs on Toddlers & Tiaras border on the obscene. In a free society, sexual freedom and the freedom of sexual expression are wonderful things–for adults, not for little kids.
