Austin Adult Entertainment: Residents set sight on refurbishing north I-35 motel district

Filed under: Austin adult entertainment — highheels at 8:37 pm on Monday, July 25, 2011

NORTHWEST AUSTIN — Members of the North Austin Coalition of Neighborhoods have voted to pursue a plan to create a thriving motel district on I-35 between US 183 and Braker Lane or Parmer Lane.
NACN is composed of 10 neighborhoods and neighborhood coalitions and meets quarterly to discuss issues that affect each of the membership neighborhoods.
“This would really solve some of the problems we have,” said Mary Rudig, Gracywoods neighborhood watch captain, during a presentation July 20.
Foremost of those problems is crime, particularly at Rundberg Lane and I-35, which is lined by motels and frequented by drug dealers and prostitutes. According to police records, in the one-year period ending June 1, 2011, police recorded 1,959 violations in the approximately half-mile radius around the junction, nearly four times the amount recorded at Braker Lane and I-35, located about 2 miles north.

Law enforcement, advocacy groups briefed on laws recently enacted to combat human trafficking  Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – HOUSTON – Texas’ Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force today convened in Houston to discuss new human trafficking prevention laws that were recently enacted by the Texas Legislature. During the 82nd Session, legislators adopted multiple recommendations that were included in the Task Force’s 2011 biennial report.
Officials representing local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors and non-governmental organizations focused on Senate Bill 24, which was sponsored by Sen. Leticia Van de Putte and Rep. Senfronia Thompson. Under the new law, human traffickers face tougher criminal penalties and young trafficking victims are afforded additional protections.
Senate Bill 24 implements the Human Trafficking Prevention Task Force’s recommendations by:
• creating legally distinct definitions of sex trafficking and labor trafficking, • increasing penalties for compelling prostitution of a child to a first-degree felony, • adding human trafficking offenses to the list of crimes for which a life sentence in prison is automatic for two or more trafficking offense convictions, and • requiring convicted sex traffickers to register in the Texas Sex Offender registry.

16 And Pregnant Star Suffering From Throat Tumor
When the 16 and Pregnant: Where Are They Now special aired in early July, rumors speculated that one of the stars, Aubrey Wolters was abusing drugs. In the episode, it was apparent that she lost a substantial amount of weight, and her behavior was quite erratic. In fact, after the airing of the episode, the teen mom dealt with excessive backlash due to her actions on the episode, which included a Saint Patricks Day party, as well as the proclamation that she wishes to become a stripper
Earlier this month, it was revealed that the 19-year-old was arrested for suspicion of shoplifting, posession of a prescription drug without a prescription and possession of a dangerous drug while she was out with her son, Austin, last year.

How Your Journalism Sausage Gets Made, Part Seven: Interview with a Stripper
Cash — “Like Johnny Cash,” she explained — is a 42-year-old stripper from Detroit, Michigan.
“I’ve been in this business 24 years,” she told me when I interviewed her this spring at The Yellow Rose, a legendary strip club in Austin, Texas.
We discussed how the strip club business has changed over the years, what a “house mom” does in a gentleman’s club, and the real reason men like to watch naked women dance.
When did you start?
’87, ’88 — ’89.
What was it like back then?
Oh, it was great! Money was good. I just planned to be in six months. But that didn’t work out. Obviously. But, I mean, I enjoy what I do.

Why do men go to strip clubs?

Austin Strip Clubs: Bengals’ Cedric Benson arrested in Texas

Filed under: Austin strip clubs — angel at 8:24 am on Monday, July 18, 2011

White was drafted by the Bengals in the fourth round in 2007 and played two seasons here before being one of the final cuts in the 2009 preseason. He was signed late in training camp last year and appeared in two preseason games before being released. When the Bengals had a run of injuries, White was signed for the final three games and saw action mostly on special teams.
White was slated to be a restricted free agent, but it is believed the Bengals did not tender him an offer, which would make him unrestricted.
Benson, White and Jones participated in player-organized workouts that were held in Cincinnati and Mason last month.
Jones is scheduled to be arraigned today on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest from an incident at Scene.
Jones could also be subject to NFL suspension if found guilty and could be in violation of his year of probation in Nevada for his role in a 2007 Las Vegas strip club shooting that injured three people.

Austin Strip Clubs: Free Agent Running Back Cedric Benson Arrested on Assault Charge in Texas

Filed under: Austin strip clubs — angel at 8:24 am on Monday, July 18, 2011

The 28-year-old running back was disappointed last season when the Bengals went away from their run-based offense that won them the AFC North title in 2009, then finished 4-12. After the Bengals changed offensive coordinators, Benson lobbied to stay in Cincinnati.
He was the second Bengals player arrested in the last week. Cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones was arrested last weekend in Cincinnati on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct while intoxicated and resisting arrest. Court documents said Jones shouted profanities in a downtown bar and tried to pull away as officers arrested him. Jones has denied the allegations.
Jones’ arrest also could draw a suspension from the NFL and might jeopardize his year of probation from a Nevada judge for his role in a 2007 Las Vegas strip club shooting that left three people injured.

Austin Adult Entertainment: Small town radio station fights back

Filed under: Austin adult entertainment — highheels at 4:36 am on Tuesday, July 12, 2011

DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas (KXAN) – On a recent Sunday morning, a Dripping Springs area resident was listening to a church service on KDRP , the town’s small, nonprofit community radio station. Suddenly, the signal grew weak and the listener heard interference from another station. That station was KVET radio, which broadcasts a sports-talk format and, according to KDRP management, occasionally runs commercials for adult-oriented businesses. So, right in the middle of the Sunday sermon, the listener encountered an offending ad. He complained to the church and the pastor complained to KDRP general manager Ryan Schuh.
“To the average listener, they don’t understand,” Schuh said. “They might think we changed formats; they might think we started doing that. They don’t know; they get upset and go away.”
“The largest religious broadcaster in the nation, religious, is broadcasting adult entertainment ads, breast augmentation contest ads, lewd humor constantly,” said KDRP operations manager Denver O’Neal. “Is that Christian behavior?”
