Austin Escorts: APD Homicide Unit investigating suspicious death

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 6:13 pm on Tuesday, May 1, 2012

APD investigators took pictures and used evidence signs to mark off areas along the entire stretch. The trail leads from the apartments to the victim’s body.
Sgt. Jamie Jobes with APD says the victim suffered head injuries. Sgt. Jobes says it wasn’t immediately clear whether witnesses saw what happened or if they simply found the victim’s body and called for help.
People who live and work nearby say the troubles like this are increasing.
“It’s a lot of good people out here but it’s a lot of bad people you know. It’s a lot of bad things going on, prostitution, drugs you know just like everywhere else. It’s something that, it’s kind of like it’s starting to be an everyday thing, you know. I think it’s real bad. The police are trying to do a good job, but they can’t be everyone at one time,” said Edward Moore.

Austin Escorts: Mel Gibson’s ‘Get the Gringo’ has a one-night theatrical run

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 19, 2012

… We’re just in a different era,” Gibson said at an Austin theater following the film’s premiere, with the actor’s interview by blogger Harry Knowles beamed into satellite screenings in cities such as Atlanta, Minneapolis and Los Angeles. “Many people just like to see things in their homes. It’s just another way to do it and a better way to do it. I think it’s the future.”
Once known as “How I Spent My Summer Vacation,” the violent film was directed and co-written by Adrian Grunberg, who was Gibson’s first assistant director on “Apocalypto.” In “Get the Gringo,” Gibson plays a character known as Driver, a veteran criminal thrown into a squalid Mexican prison. The film’s jail is patterned after El Pueblito, a notorious correctional facility in Tijuana that operated as its own city, with guns, drugs and prostitution readily available. “You can buy anything,” one character says in the film, “except your way out.”

Austin Escorts: Officer’s death felt from Austin to San Angelo

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 3:49 am on Saturday, April 7, 2012

The police chief and the city manager gave the terrible news to a family in the middle of the night, then held a news conference in a darkened Wal-Mart parking lot amid the screeches of gathering grackles.
The ripples from officer Jaime Padron’s death spread quickly Friday, washing through Austin, where he’d served as a police officer for the past three years, and through San Angelo, where he’d grown up and gone to college and where his family still lived after he’d left to make a life in Austin.
Padron, a 40-year-old divorced father of two daughters, was fatally shot early Friday morning after he responded to a call about an intoxicated person in a North Austin Wal-Mart.
Lt. Paul Christ, Padron’s former supervisor on the Region 2 metro tactical unit, was still trying to absorb what had happened Friday.
Until recently, Padron was a member of the 15-member team that tackles street-level flare-ups: drug dealing, prostitution, violent crime.

Austin Escorts: MUBI and VidZone Updates This Week

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 8:36 pm on Friday, April 6, 2012

Thanks to the restoration magic of Watchmaker Films we’re going to make exclusively available on MUBI the first feature film by Tobe “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” Hooper—the unreleased cult film Eggshells! This 1970 film was Hooper’s first feature—a psychedelic comedy set in the counter-culture haven of Austin, Texas. It never got shown. Never made a dime. Four years later, afraid he’d never work again, he made a little horror film. It was called Texas Chainsaw Massacre and it changed the horror genre forever. This is the premiere of Eggshells 42 years later—coming soon on MUBI!
Available in: Everywhere!
Despite it’s long and ungainly title—and re-titled title in English—Bertrand Bonello’s intoxicating film about a turn of the century Parisian brothel, L’Apollonide (Souvenirs de la maison close) a.ka. House of Pleasures a.k.a. House of Tolerance was one of the most startling, beautiful and troubling films at Cannes in 2011. Right before he finished that feature, Bonello directed this short film, which was one of my favorite films I saw at International Film Festival Rotterdam in 2010. Here’s IFFR’s description:

Austin Escorts: East Austin neighborhoods want downtown-style safety measures

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 3:49 am on Sunday, April 1, 2012

Saturday, March 31, 2012 – 8:36pm
AUSTIN, Texas —
A fatal shooting this month at 13th and Chicon streets has riled several neighborhood association leaders, who say they want to see certain downtown public safety measures expanded to central East Austin, where a struggle to stop prostitution and drug activity has continued for decades.
Police and officials with the Travis County district attorney’s office said an initiative is in the works to curb crime in the area, which is notorious for outdoor sales of narcotics at all hours of the day. But they declined to discuss specifics.
For many residents, the most significant challenge is putting away the dealers who keep coming back to the streets even after multiple arrests.

Austin Escorts: Rest in Peace, SXSW 2012

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 8:36 pm on Wednesday, March 28, 2012

Typically sponsored by a well-known corporate entity, these sparsely attended parties are off the radar and away from the madness of badge only and RSVP. After I wrote about how pointless branding was at the Fader Fort I should point out that sometimes it works. I spent some time at the Hard Rock Hotel Sound of Your Stay venue and ended up chatting with one of the hotel’s marketing people. Even as he was telling me about new promotions like the in-house guitars and DJ equipment available for guests to use in their rooms I didn’t know how or when I could work it into my coverage, but later that day I found myself telling friends all about it. So congratulations Hard Rock Hotel, consider your decadent party justified.
Midnight Cowboy
Tuesday night we were lucky enough to score a reservation at Alamo Drafthouse’s newest venture, a recently shut down brothel transformed into a speakeasy complete with secret entrance and vintage cocktails. …

Austin Escorts: Men charged with impersonating Austin women online to damage their reputations

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 3:49 am on Saturday, March 17, 2012

Police said that Nielsen created fake Twitter accounts designed to send false, sexually explicit messages from his ex-girlfriend and her daughters, who live in Austin, and that Limle created websites to portray a woman he briefly dated as a prostitute.
Detective William Pursley, who works for the department’s digital analysis and response team and who filed the charges against the two men, said they were charged under a law that was revised by the state Legislature in 2011.
The law says someone can be charged with online impersonation for creating a Web page, social media profile or other online account posing as a victim without their consent and using their persona to harm, defraud, threaten or intimidate someone.

Those websites advertised her as a prostitute, the affidavit said. When contacted by detectives, Limle said he created the fake domain names and had called police to report the woman as a prostitute. Pursley said investigators have no information to indicate the woman is involved in such activities.

Austin Escorts: First Cuppa Coffee – March 16, 2012: Conspiracies, Lies and More Lies Edition

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 8:37 pm on Friday, March 16, 2012

From the War on Women Battlefront…  The conspiracists of the right have been working overtime, looking for the elusive connection between Georgetown Law Student Sandra Fluke and the inner workings of the Obama machine. The thinking goes that, if they can find the smoking gun, all will be forgiven for Rush’s characterization of her as a slut and a prostitute. And looky, looky at what they have found: First Degree Jewishness.  Her boyfriend (Adam Mutterperl) is a Jew. Here’s the original copy from teabagger extraordinaire Brookes Baine:
Adam Mutterperl is the son of one of the most well-connected leftist Jewish families on the East Coast (add the West Coast to that, apparently), with ties to neo-Marxist Brandeis University as decades old donors… and whose father, Bill Mutterperl, worked directly for Paul Volcker, one of Obama’s pals, advisors, and Keynesian “stimulus” bill architects. In addition to the Mutterperl’s extensive history within the Jewish socialist activist/political world, and their generational wealth, they’re still doing what they can to help the 99%.

Austin Escorts: Craft cocktail guru Adam Bryan finally goes on record with plans for his new …

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 8:37 pm on Friday, March 16, 2012

… I want it to be something that is reliable and consistent as well as impressive and delicious,” says Bryan. “What does drink ‘X’ at the newest bar in town really mean to someone if they don’t know the roots of where it came from? That’s not the direction I want to go. I want to offer a classic menu staff trained on the history of our drinks to give customers what they’re looking for when it comes to knowing a certain standard for classic cocktails.”
In the past few months, Bryan has done his best to stay focused on bringing Motel to fruition. But he’s had a few welcome distractions including a regular bar tending session on Monday nights at the Dive Bar Lounge on Guadalupe.
He’s also helped a few of his cocktail crafting colleagues to open up their new bars including Drink. Well. and Midnight Cowboy, the former brothel on East 6th Street that opened this week as a new high-end, reservation-only cocktail bar downtown from Alamo Drafthouse’s celebrated Austin bar man Bill Norris (a fellow Tastemaker nominee) and business partner Brian Dressel (Eastside Show Room, Congress) .
