Austin Escorts: Police seek tips in five unsolved homicides of 2011

Police said he had been in a physical disturbance with other occupants in the apartment. Ehlert said detectives have spoken with the people involved, but the case has not progressed.
Investigators also are looking for more leads in the death of 29-year-old Sherrill Lynn McBride in August, which homicide Sgt. Hector Reveles said at the time was “brutal” and believed to be sexually motivated.
McBride was found dumped in a grassy field in the 3100 block of Gonzales Street in East Austin on Aug. 12, officials said. McBride was homeless and had a previous arrest for prostitution, according to public records.
Police had been searching for a small black pickup, driven by a man, that was seen in the area when McBride’s body was found, Reveles said. He said the man was picking up prostitutes in the area and is not considered a suspect at this time but that police are looking for him.

Austin Escorts: Police task force focuses on Mexican Mafia gang

… You are talking about people with skills in the drug trade, who are willing to do violence, acting as one unit,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Elizabeth Cottingham said. “You want to keep them from getting out of control.”
A 63-page affidavit with some details of the investigation was unsealed earlier this month after a federal judge sentenced 16 suspected gang members to prison. Nine of them have received sentences of at least 20 years.
Hause said it’s not clear whether the gang’s influence will continue to grow. Its ranks on the outside world are dependent on the release of members from Texas prisons, where the gang was formed in the 1980s to provide protection to those who join. Once outside, they deal in drugs, contract killings, prostitution, robbery, gambling and weapons. Its president, Heriberto Huerta, is serving life at a federal prison in Colorado but investigators believe he’s still able to give orders.

Austin Escorts: Activist’s exposé on Perry hits the market

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 8:49 pm on Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Maxey disputes Huffington’s claim to Politico that the story was never ready for publication, and that there was no real story. The activist claims the publisher killed the story after Perry’s campaign hired famed libel lawyer Lin Wood, and the lawyer wrote a letter to the Huffington Post threatening to sue if the story was published.
Huffington denied that the lawyer’s letter had anything to do with her decision.
But, Maxey said, “Arianna Huffington told a bald-faced lie.”
No response has been received to an e-mail sent by the Dallas Voice to Huffington Post’s media relations department seeking comment on Maxey’s claim.
Maxey concedes a high-priced call boy who claimed to have engaged in sex with Perry and another man for hire in hotel rooms several times never went on the record, even though celebrity attorney Gloria Allred reportedly was signed on to represent him when the story hit. An affidavit signed by the prostitute — whom

AUSTIN –  On Tuesday, 16 convicted felons stared back from a poster board at the Austin Police Department. Investigators say they were members of a gang called the Texas Mexican Mafia. With one exception, they were all U.S. citizens. All of their crimes were heinous.
“The gang was heavily involved with drug trafficking, robbery, extortion, prostitution, weapons trafficking and murder,” said Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo.
Acevedo said they were caught after a two-year investigation called “Operation Merecido.” It involved the FBI, local police, the Department of Public Safety, and the U.S. Attorney General’s office.
The investigation began after the gang had spread from San Antonio to Austin.
“They spread here under a strong leader,” FBI Special Agent Steve Hause said. He went on to say that leader was a man named Ruben Flores, who lived in Pflugerville.

Austin Escorts: Cops: Drunk woman burglarized house

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 11:00 pm on Sunday, December 11, 2011

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Corlis F. Wiley, 50, was arrested Saturday night and charged in connection with a burglary on Eastcrest Drive in north Austin.
It happened at a home around 8 p.m.  Police say the home had been burglarized back in November.
The homeowner told police he heard noise coming from his living room, went to check it out and found Wiley hunched over a chair.
A court affidavit states that the homeowner had placed his leather jacket on the chair and it was now missing.
Wiley ran away on foot and a neighbor saw her carrying the leather jacket, police said.
Wiley was later found at a nearby apartment with the jacket, according to the arrest affidavit.
Police described Wiley as drunk.
Police say Wiley told them she was at the home on Eastcrest Drive to engage in prostitution and was given the coat as payment.

About 1,500 residents live in The Palms, and 150 of them were residents of the Malibu Apartments who chose to stay at the renovated complex. As of Dec. 5, the complex was 100 percent leased. To qualify for living at The Palms, residents must earn at least 60 percent of the average median family income.
Mulholland said that the Malibu Apartments had become run-down and were known for having issues with drug use and prostitution.

Austin Escorts: "Harmless Rehash": Politico’s HuffPo Diss

Filed under: Austin escorts — goodtimegirl at 5:37 pm on Friday, December 2, 2011

Back in August, I was apparently one of many reporters who got calls about dark rumors involving Rick Perry. They were sourceless; to prove them, the peddler suggested coming down to Austin and interviewing some prostitutes. For some reason, I didn’t bite, and neither did anyone else.
Well, sort of. In Politico’s new e-book on the campaign, Mike Allen and Evan Thomas reconstruct a story that never ran. In July, they report, the Perry campaign was “distressed to learn that Jason Cherkis, a Huffington Post reporter, was in Austin prowling around on a story that had been gossiped about for years in the Texas capital: is Perry gay?” The story, Allen and Thomas assure us, was illustrative of “the kind of off-the-wall queries that campaigns field.” The Perry campaign blew it off, and “took comfort in the Huffington Post’s roots on the left, which gave the Perry staff hope that mainstream outlets would ignore the story.” When Cherkis approached Team Perry to denials, a “Perry official” explains what went down: “He used an example of someone who wouldn’t answer a question, so that means he’s confirming… He would interpret that as ‘Ah-ha!’”
